Bassett Street Community Library Consultations

Posted: Wed, 28 Jan 2015 11:20 by Neil Baker

We are pleased to announce that Community Action Partnership has recently approached Leicestershire County Council with a view to taking on the running and development of the existing South Wigston Library.

Community Action Partnership are a registered charity who currently manage Bassett Street Community Hub, the building in which the library sits.

Our stage one proposal to Leicestershire County Council for the library has now been agreed, and over the coming month we will be developing a business plan for the new library provision.

We have big plans for the library, modernising the space, introducing a new community café, special events, and live comedy and reading groups. As well as volunteering opportunities and a friends of the library fundraising group.

Under our plans the library will be open five days a week and will create a space for the whole community to enjoy.

As part of our business plan development our Chief Executive would now like to hear from you on our plans for the future. We have two public consultation groups on:

MONDAY 16th February - 5.00pm – 6.30pm

(Main Hall Bassett Street Hub)

TUESDAY 17th February - 2.00pm – 3.30pm

(Main Hall Bassett Street Hub)

All are welcome, and we would love to hear your thoughts and ideas.
